What is Aquaculture Mooring Systems?
Mooring systems are required to hold cages against the forces generated by wind, currents and waves, and to allow the fish cages and nets the best chance of survival.
The mooring system for a fish farm consists anchor, anchor chains, ropes and buoys, in addition, several mooring components like shackles, connection plates, chain connection links. These elements need to be assembled together, correctly specified and installed, physically and operationally compatible with each other, and effective in use and maintenance.
The mainly mooring configuration is anchor on the seabed, subsurface mooring grid. There are numerous types of embedding anchor, we regular supply Delta HHP Anchor, Stingray Anchor, Sand Anchor, Stevpris MK5 Anchor for fish farming use, which have a high holding power. Mooring lines must withstand and transmit forces. The loads imposed on a cage mooring system are principally dynamic. It is important that mooring lines have a high breaking strength and can absorb much of the kinetic energy of rapidly changing forces, otherwise theses forces will be transmitted directly to the anchors.
Ropes should not be attached directly to sea anchors, should be connected via a section of chain. The chain can increase the effectiveness of the mooring system, acting as an efficient type of anchor and improves the holding power of existing anchor by both reducing the angle between the mooring line and anchor and by increasing energy absorbing properties of the mooring line. Besides, a section of chain is necessary on the anchor end as it has high abrasion forces than synthetic fibre ropes.
Waysail specializes in sustainable and environmentally marine and aquaculture solutions, based on many years of experience in the supply and installation of all types of mooring systems, from aquaculture farms to single boat moorings.
